we celebrated an entirely Handmade Christmas (on our part at least) it was so satisfying to make all of our gifts. we also celebrated the Advent Conspiracy with our church and gave our parents donations to an african water project. Fabulous. My mom and dad got us a wonderful Serger for Christmas though....and I am eternally grateful. It even came with classes so I wont break it while trying to totally figure it out.

so its pretty scary...4 people (by people i mean youth) have died in the last little while from MRSA...that is the "Super Bug" that kept me in the hospital for a week. watching the story on the news just sent chills down my spine. ugggg....contact precautions, nose swabs, antibiotics....its crazy stuff. wash your hands people! put some type of antibacterial cream on cuts and scrapes!! that is the most important! i dont want anyone i know to have to go through what i did.

today is christians birthday. we had a great vegan breakfast feast for lunch...pancakes, biscuits and gravy, tempeh bacon, zucchini muffins, scrambled tofu, roasted potatoes, and cupcakes to top it off. fabulous. i got him a johnny cupcakes shirt...

christians mom is also in town...we are having a nice visit so far. christian is working tonight at urban outfitters. he did have a second interview at another sign shop this morning. he said it went incredibly well. i hope he gets it.

A friend from college put this on facebook. This picture is about 6yrs old. i like this picture.

So. I am really feeling pretty good. I would say about 95% normal again. I have been baking and cooking meals again. its so nice. i love cooking so much. Our favorite new meal is Orange Tofu and rice. mmmmm. i do love some chinese! I have also made banana muffins and zucchini muffins. oh so good. and its so strange...now that i am not pregnant anymore i have no desire to eat any "animals" (as sydney would say)...and have been eating 100% vegan since the day uri was born. i seriously feel so much better. I have also been sleeping in my bed again. its been great to sleep in my bed the past two night(before that uri and i have been camping out in the over sized recliner in the living room)...before that i couldn't sit up and down on the bed. it was kinda funny cause i would somehow manage to lay down but then i couldn't get back up and i would just kinda flop around on the bed like a fish trying to figure out how to get up with the least amount of pain. and this morning...oh, this morning. i laid on my stomach for the first time in about 6months. it was AWESOME. i cant tell you how awesome.

and now i would like to take a moment to brag on my husband...

my mom took the kids and me to costco the other day and christian stayed home (because he is out of work now) and when i got home every dirty piece of clothing in the house had been washed and all the dishes were done and the kitchen was clean and the kitchen and dining room had been swept up. i was soooo happy. it seriously took so much stress off of me. he is awesome.

we took the family and went to my moms church this weekend to ride bikes in the parking lot. it was pretty fun. we parked the van and left the back doors open. i sat there and watched most of the time...the kids pushed their bikes around the parking lot...and isa hung out in the stroller...i did let him loose a couple times but he kept wanting to run into the street, so back into the stroller he would go. and sweet little uri didn't even come out of the car seat...he just slept the whole time.

i was sooo happy to get to go to our church this morning. i havn't been in at least a month. (before uri was born my hips hurt too badly to sit on the old wooden pews and then the week after he was born nothing felt good at all) i spent most of the service in a room called "mamas sofa" which is the nursing room at the church...it was sooo much nice than the nursing room at my parents church...(my parents go to a mega church so i was really surprised to see how crappy their nursing room was with isa...all they have is a room with a couch...no audio feed or anything)so i walk in and there is a couch and two rockers two boppy pillows and a couple other pillows. there was a changing table with every sized diaper a baby could need, extra blankets, and a bassinet. then to top it all off there is an audio feed so we can listen to the sermon/music and a little mini fridge with a note on the door that reads "mama's, help yourself to a cold drink and a snack" how nice is that? it was nice to sit in there and talk with other moms too.

our local coffee shop is having an art opening in late october with pictures of tattoos. christian and i need to get pictures printed of a couple of tattoos to submit for the opening. i am going to submit my sewing tattoo. i think this will be a really cool art exhibit though.

this is long enough...pictures from our biking expedition soon.

I cant believe that little uri has already passed the one week mark. this has been a very quick week.

Sydney, Ira, and Isa are doing so well with uri. I am so happy about that.

my body is slowly getting back to normal. I am at this strange in between space where i feel as if i should be able to get up and do whatever i want...but man, if i am up too long my body sure lets me know it! my back starts hurting and when i go to sit down my incision hurts. i just need to take it slow...seriously. its so hard though. i just want to be able to get up and chase my kids, clean up the house, do the dishes, cook, go to the grocery store. hopefully by next week i will be able to do all of those things.

so christian is now unemployed. his awesome boss told him just two short weeks ago that she would be closing their shop. so he has been looking and going to interviews. tomorrow he is meeting with someone to help give his resume a fresh look. he does have some freelance work to do. he also goes to court tomorrow for a ticket he got last month. so the kids and I will be at my moms again tomorrow. she is such a huge blessing to us. I really dont know what we would do without her.

friday morning christian and i headed to the hospital at 5:15am. we got all registered and put in a room. the dr came in at 7ish and attempted to turn the baby. that hurt. a lot. it was a really intense pain. it sucked. and let me just tell you that after four attempts...that baby would not budge. he was being stubborn. he was laying in a frank breech position (his butt was at the lowest point) which explained the horrible hip/pelvic pain i had been experiencing. so, we decided to go with a c section. and at that point i was just happy she wasn't going to try to turn him again. and you know...as much as i wanted a vaginal birth...i wouldn't have chosen to birth a breech baby that way. kudos to those who have/would but its just not for me. i was kinda of suprised when the dr said ok, lets do it. the nurse brought in a beautiful blue cap for me to wear

and a lovely white suit for christian

I walked into the operating room at 8:32am...from there i was given a spinal block (which after talking to the anesthesiologist he informed me that there are less risks with this than an epidural, they work faster, and dont stay in your back like at epidural...i dont understand why these wouldn't be the norm instead of an epidural...i guess they wouldn't be easy to "refill") after laying down and getting my arms all strapped down started feeling sick (i think it was because i had to take this liquid stomach acid neutralizer on an empty stomach before going in) so i threw up a few times (laying down and throwing up is really awkward)by the time the nurse was wiping my face off they had already started the section (i think throwing up was kind of a blessing because it took my mind off of them starting). I felt tugging and besides that nothing. Honestly the external aversion i had experienced earlier that morning was worse than the c section. way worse. uri was delivered at 8:51am its pretty crazy how fast it was.

Uriah "Uri" Eugene Soulliere weighed 8lbs 9oz and was 21inch long.
His black hair is so funny. None of the other babies had hair like that. i love it.

God knew what he was doing. as always...

I am very happy with the way this delivery turned out.

I spent an hour in the recovery room after delivery. Christian stayed with uri in the nursery until the brought him in to me. He latched on perfect the very first time while i was in recovery and has been a nursing champ ever since. i was very worried about this, since i knew it would be awkward after a c section. I am so thankful that he is eating so well.

I didn't leave bed for a full 24hrs. The day after was hard stuff. i thought my stomach was ripping apart the first time i tried to get out of bed. its a lot better now. I go to the dr this afternoon to get staples out.

i am so thankful for all the prayers and well wishes from everyone. i cant tell you how much i appreciate it. its amazing to have a great community of people around you...if I have met you in person or not. I am thankful for you.

God has really blessed my family. We are now complete. I have great peace in saying that.
